One student,start to finish
Written for a new person on the desk. Follow it once and the rest is muscle memory.
Before you start
Sign in once
Click the VU Prime icon in Chrome and sign in with the Google account your campus was activated with. The extension stays signed in on that computer, up to your device limit.
VU Prime never asks for your VU portal password. It works inside the portal session you have already opened yourself.
Open New Student
From the extension popup, open Admission AutoFill and then New Student.
Adding a student
Type the CNIC or B-Form number first
The page checks your campus record before anything else.
- Already saved: you see the name, degree, when it was saved and by whom. Choose Load and edit to carry on with that student, documents and all.
- New: the degree, program and document list open up.
- Number not known yet: choose "Not known yet". It is read from the documents and you can correct it on the Review page.
Choose the degree and program
The document list follows what you choose. For example B.Ed. Secondary (1.5 year) also asks for the Master document, and MS asks whether the student has a 4-year BS.
Attach the documents
- Drag files onto a slot, or click it and choose them.
- More than one page for Matric, Inter, Bachelor or Master? Choose all the images together. They become one PDF, and that PDF is what goes to VU.
- Everything in one ZIP or a single multi-page PDF? Use the "All documents together" box and the pages are sorted into slots for you.
- No scanner? Use the phone QR option and photograph the documents with a phone.
- Crooked or dark photo? Press "Clean up" on that slot, or "Adjust" to set the corners yourself.
Read the documents
Press "Read documents". The details are pulled out of the images. A B-Form with several children is matched on the student's name and date of birth from the Matric card, so a sibling's CNIC never lands on the form.
Review in three steps
- What is missing: only the empty and unsure fields, so you fix those first.
- Identity check: name, father name, date of birth, CNIC. These are the ones VU rejects an application over.
- Final review: everything together, then Save.
A grey "check" chip means the AI was not sure. An empty CNIC on a B-Form means no row matched safely, so type it from the document.
On the VU portal
Fill the admission form
Open the VU admission form and the panel appears with the saved student. Fill each step, check it, and press VU's own Save & Next. The captcha and the final submit always stay with you.
Upload the documents
On the documents step, the files you attached are already waiting. Rows that accept PDF take the merged PDF; rows that only accept JPG take the image.
When something goes wrong
"The AI could not read this document"
Usually the picture is too dark, too small or cut off. Press Clean up, or take the photo again in better light. If it keeps happening on every document, the reading service may be busy: wait a minute and press Read documents again.
The B-Form CNIC came out empty
That is on purpose. The B-Form lists every child, and no row matched the name and date of birth on the Matric card closely enough. Read the number off the document and type it in. An empty box is safer than a brother's or sister's number.
"Session expired" or it asks me to sign in again
Click the extension icon and sign in again. Your work on the Review page stays where it is.
A slot I need is not shown
The list follows the degree and program. Check both at the top of the page. For MS, also check the 4-year BS question.
The VU form has changed and a field is not filled
Fill that one field by hand and carry on. VU Prime reports the change back to your admin, and the matching words are fixed from the dashboard without waiting for a new extension version.
"Please update VU Prime"
Chrome updates extensions on its own, usually within a few hours. To do it now: open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, and press Update.
